Meet Our Ambassador: Malavika

We’re delighted to introduce Malavika, our Ambassador at LIGHT. Malavika is a senior at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where she studies Medical Anthropology and Psychology on the pre-med track. She’s deeply passionate about exploring the social determinants of women’s health, patient narratives, and mental health—particularly focusing on chronic pain, reproductive justice, and adolescent mental health.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Malavika is a trained birth and postpartum doula, supporting individuals through transformative life stages. She’s also the creator of Teen Self-Compassion, a mental health resource platform dedicated to helping young people cultivate resilience and self-care. Her creative side shines through in her work as a writer, visual artist, and Indian classical dancer, bringing a unique perspective to her advocacy and outreach.

Following her graduation from Swarthmore, Malavika plans to attend Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, where she’ll continue her journey in healthcare. We’re proud to have such a dedicated and inspiring individual as part of our LIGHT community!

Stay tuned to hear more from Malavika as she continues to make an impact on the future of healthcare and public health.
