We’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Juliet Iwelunmor, the co-founder of LIGHT and a driving force behind our mission. Dr. Iwelunmor is a Professor of Medicine and serves as the Associate Director for Global Health and Dissemination at Washington University School of Medicine. Her work is rooted in a commitment to health equity and sustainability, with a focus on creating interventions that truly last within communities.
With over a decade of expertise, Dr. Iwelunmor is known for her innovative approach to public health. She emphasizes participatory research and prioritizes amplifying the voices of young people in health interventions. Dr. Iwelunmor’s leadership in dissemination and implementation science has led to impactful, community-centered health programs, designed to empower and educate.
Her experience spans academia and international advocacy. Before joining WUSM, Dr. Iwelunmor taught at Saint Louis University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also worked with UNESCO in Paris, focusing on HIV education and support. Her work at LIGHT reflects her unwavering dedication to improving health access and outcomes for all.
