LIGHT (Leaders Igniting Generational Healing and Transformation) is a literary arts and public health initiative dedicated to using storytelling and creative expression to reimagine health equity and community well-being. Based in St. Louis, LIGHT publishes literary works and fosters dialogue at the intersection of art, health, and social change.
LIGHT hosts a yearly literary arts festival that centers around a particular public health topic, this year, it is a mission of re-building trust in public health through art, letters, stories and poetry.
The 2025 LIGHT festival speakers include Stacey Russell, Precious Barry, Maryam Bukar-Hassan, Jayvn Solomon, Vitendo 4 Africa, Ellen Tanner, Dr. Seye Abimbola, and Dr. Beth Reese.
Attendees will engage in innovative dialogue with these speakers in sessions like, “Voices That Matter: How Speaking Up Builds Strong Communities,” and “When the Body Speaks: Poetry, Pain, & Public Health.”
Admission is free and includes: access to all festival speaker sessions, all day food and beverage*, surprise giveaways*, community tabling*, and more.
