Behind the Page: “What’s in Front of Me”

In August of 2023, we released our fourth open call: How might we reimagine healing and transformation with cancer through poetry, art, letters, and stories? This post will share a transcription of an email interview with Susan Dambroff, a winner of this open call, whose submission, “What’s in Front of Me,” will be published in Issue 4 of the LIGHT Magazine. A special thank you to Susan for sharing her LIGHT story with us.

Susan Dambroff – What’s in Front of Me

“I feel blessed to be a poet. It has helped me process, integrate, and cope with many of the challenges of life, as well providing a voice to express the joys. My poem, “What’s in Front of Me”, chronicles the daily one-foot-in-front-of-the-other journey of receiving a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, with all its fears, observations, dreams, emotions, and ultimately resilience. I am grateful to be among others who are helped by the written word and to LIGHT for providing a literary platform and transformative conversation about cancer and healing.”

Issue 2 of the LIGHT Magazine is now available for purchase in our shop!

LIGHT is currently looking for donors and sponsors to help us keep our project going. If you are interested in supporting our publication, please email us at info@light4ph.org.
