Behind the Page: “What’s in Front of Me”

In August of 2023, we released our fourth Open Call: How might we reimagine healing and transformation with cancer through poetry, art, letters, and stories? This post will share a transcription of an email interview with Susan Dambroff, a winner of this open call who’s submission, “What’s in Front of Me,” will be published in Issue 4 of the LIGHT Magazine. A special thank you to Susan for sharing her LIGHT story with us.

Susan Dambroff – What’s in Front of Me

“I feel blessed to be a poet. It has helped me process, integrate, and cope with many of the challenges of life, as well providing a voice to express the joys. My poem, “What’s in Front of Me”, chronicles the daily one-foot-in-front-of-the-other journey of receiving a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, with all its fears, observations, dreams, emotions, and ultimately resilience. I am grateful to be among others who are helped by the written word and to LIGHT for providing a literary platform and transformative conversation about cancer and healing.”

Issue 2 of the LIGHT Magazine is now available for purchase in our shop!

LIGHT is currently looking for donors and/or sponsors to help us keep our project going. If you are interested in supporting our publication, please email us at info@light4ph.org.
